This book is dedicated to all women. My hope is to empower you with a wide open look into the minds of men- Steve Harvey.
That’s the beginning quote/epigraph of Steve’s Harvey’s book,
“Act Like A Lady, Think Like A Man.”
When Steve Harvey began his radio show in Los Angeles, he created a section named “Ask Steve.” It began as a comedy show, as Steve Harvey is a comedian and he would used the content of the calls to make jokes for his fans.
However, as time progressed, Steve realized from the questions being asked, that many women, in particular, were frustrated with their love and family lives, and had real concerns on how to achieve happiness in their lives and especially as it relates to life, love men and sex.
Sports Fish vs Keepers.
A large part of the book “Act Like A Lady, Think Like A Man” tells women how not to be used for sex and then dumped. He calls it Men will play with women, if the woman allows it. If men can get what they want without any commitments, they will, that is, if the woman allows it. Men respect women with standards, so get some, said Steve Harvey. Women, if you cherish your mind and body, then set some standards on who is going to have access to it and how. In the simile of Sports Fish vs Keepers, Steve Harvey goes into detail on how men think and how men chooses a woman to “keep.”
The mystery of what women wants from a man, and what a man wants from a woman, are two completely different things. To paraphrase,
“In sum ladies, you have to stop heaping your own definition of love on men and recognize that men love differently. A man’s love fits only into three categories. I call them “The Three Ps of Love-Profess, Provide and Protect.”
He will publicly profess that you are his, he will provide financially for you , and lastly, he will physically protect you from the dangers of society. If you have such a man, then he is all in. That’s a man’s declaration of love in the way he behaves.
The entire chapter 4 is dedicated on how to move a possible suitor, to the isle and get that married ring and the “I Do.”
Act Like A Lady, Think Like A Man is a brutally honest book. Its a one of a kind and especially in today’s world where the thoughts and feelings of the men are sometimes ignored. One especially pertinent section is Chapter 8: Why Men Cheat. Now, that’s worth a read as written from the mind of a man and from the perspective of men.
Act Like A Lady, Think Like A Man is a must read for married women trying to understand their husbands, and for unmarried women to protect themselves from unscrupulous men, and maneuvering the world of men to find “the one.”
